Washington, D.C. – U. S. Rep. James A. Traficant, Jr. (D–OH) announced today that the communities of Youngstown and Warren have been awarded a total of $4,767,640 in federal Head Start grants. "This sizeable influx of federal money will help these communities provide crucial educational assistance to needy populations," said Traficant, a longtime supporter of the Head Start program.
The Youngstown Area Community Action Council received a $4,653,345 grant. The Warren-Trumbull Community Services Agency received a $114,295 grant. Both entities will use the money to help fund their year-round, part-time, handicapped training and technical assistance Head Start programs. The grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
