TRAFICANT TO BE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT VIRGINIA REFORM PARTY CONVENTION
Washington, D.C. – U. S. Rep. James A. Traficant, Jr. (D–OH) will be the keynote speaker this Sunday at the Virginia Reform Party's State Convention in Afton, Virginia. Traficant is scheduled to address the convention at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday, May 31st. The convention is being held at the Inn at Afton Banquet and Conference Center.
"I'm looking forward to talking to the Virginia Reform Party about those issues I feel are vitally important to the future of America," said Traficant. "These include simplifying the tax code, revamping our flawed trade policies – especially our policy towards China, and reforming the Internal Revenue Service." Traficant has been an outspoken opponent of NAFTA, GATT and Most Favored Nation trade status for China. He also has been the sponsor of numerous pieces of legislation to reform the IRS, many of which have been enacted into law. Most recently, Traficant authored a key provision in the IRS reform bill approved by the House last fall that shifts the burden of proof in a civil tax case from the taxpayer to the IRS. Traficant has championed the burden of proof provision for 13 years.
Last year Traficant spoke at the state conventions of the California Reform Party, the Michigan Reform Party and the Texas Reform Party. He also spoke at the Reform Party's national convention last year.2009
